Institute for Social and Economic Research - Organisation that brings together researchers from a wide range of social sciences disciplines as well as IT specialists. Their primary area of interest is in individual and household changes, such as income dynamics, employment change, household structure, living standards and social values. Contains a comprehensive list of related sites including a link to 'Mailbase'.

Joseph Rowntree Foundation - The UKs largest independent social research and development charity. It supports a wide programme of research and development projects in housing, social care and social policy. The site has access to full text reports and it is possible to order publications online.

The Nuffield Trust - The Nuffield Trust promotes independent analysis and informed debate on UK health care policy. Their main areas of research centre around improving health and quality of life, the provision of people-centred services and effectiveness in use of resources. The site provides access to publications and facilities for ordering copies of reports.

PSSRU - Personal Social Services Research Unit - The PSSRU is active in policy research and the analysis on equity and efficiency in long term care and related areas. The site enables access to their publications of which some can be downloaded directly.

Social Policy Research Unit - The SPRU is active in the areas of disability, family care, social welfare and financial assistance. There are three major research programmes: community care for adults, children and families, and social security. The site enables access to their papers and reports.

Social Services Strategic Planning Homepage - The SSSP is a consultancy specialising in social and community services. They are particularly active in social and health care and community development. Areas of research include: social inclusion, services for older people, child protection and best value. There is online access to full text reports and other publications

SSRG - Social Service Research Group - The SSRG form a network for research information planning and evaluation in social, housing and health services. The site facilitates access to the 'Research Policy and Planning' journal and many other useful links. They are also currently developing and online discussion forum.

Wales Office of Research & Development for Health & Social Care - The site facilitates access to current research projects and has a comprehensive list of useful links of particular interest to users conducting research in Wales.
